The Vision

So what is TeenIdol?
For you it’s probably just a website, but for the singers and the supporting team it is much more. It started out as the idealistic dream that music should be about enjoying whatever talent you have - having fun with music and not being labelled a failure because you’re not in the “Top 20”.

It must be possible to create an event that is more about taking part and being part of something than ‘winning or losing’ — and still fills Theatres and Concert Halls. I wanted to create an event that not only improved the abilities of all who took part - but also inspired and encouraged others who didn’t. I wanted to create an event that might encourage other people to organise their own shows, no matter how big or small - having seen what a wealth of talent we have in our schools and communities. I also wanted to place Warwickshire & Coventry firmly on the maps and minds of other talented people who make the decisions in the London-centric Music Industry.

I have been overwhelmed by the generosity and enthusiasm of everyone I have approached to ask for their support or participation, but what has had the greatest effect on me has been the enthusiasm of all our young musicians. From the auditions, through the hard work of training and rehearsing and finally - the excitement of the performance. The high standard has surprised everyone who helped create the shows and those who filled the theatres. I feel privileged to have worked with them.

Young people have a tough time in our society - having to cope with many pressures that we were blissfully unworried by during our own fairly irresponsible teenage years. They also get a bad press. We seem very quick to point out their failures and negative incidents - but very rarely do we apply as much enthusiasm to highlight their good deeds and positive achievements. We all need that praise and a pat on the back — and young people who are still finding their path in life need it even more - to help build their self esteem.

I am a better person for having met and worked with all the young musicians who had the courage to come to our auditions and as far as I am concerned they are all Stars!

I hope you enjoy the website and find something of interest to you. If you are a performer or would like to be, I hope you can come to our auditions. If you love seeing live music with great performances, I hope you can find time to come to one of our shows. If you are in the Music Business and would like to ‘put something back’ … we would love to hear from you!

Without an audience … a performer is just shouting into the darkness. Now you are also part of the vision!
