Can I attend the Auditions?
If you are between 13-19 years during the period of the whole event AND attend or have attended a school in Warwickshire you are eligible to take part.

Do I need any experience or references?
No. Teenidol wants to encourage people of ALL abilities and we accept a wide range of knowledge and experience to take part in the training and the Shows. Beyond that – we work with other community organisations to encourage those that don’t appear in our Shows to continue to develop their skills.

What if I have a physical disability?
Leamington Town Hall benefits from good wheelchair access to both floors. For our theatre shows we are more interested in your ability to sing and your wish to improve your skills and perform in front of an audience.

What should I wear?
We are not looking for another Avril, Kylie, Robbie, Will, Celine or Elvis! We are looking for you! Wear what pleases you, what you are comfortable with … whatever makes you happy. (Obviously bear in mind the weather and please stay within the bounds of decency … ta very much!)

What should I sing?
Check out our audition section in December. We will give you a list to choose from. We know that everyone has their favourite pet song that they can sing brilliantly – but our aim is to help you to sing a wide range of songs well. We select the audition songs so that they will show off you voice – as well as give our panellists some way of maintaining objectivity. There will be plenty to choose from so we are sure you will find at least one that you like singing. You may even welcome the chance to try something new.

Will I get told off if I don’t sing well?
Absolutely not! You will be treated with integrity at all times and there will be people around who you can talk to after your audition if you have any questions. Most of all – your privacy and dignity will be respected. (This is not like some ‘other’ auditions.)

What should I bring with me?
Your audition form (available to download from our Application section later in December)
2 passport photos
Bottle of water
Maybe a piece of fruit (bananas are good for energy and calm)
Diary & pen
Intention to meet new people and have a great day

Is there anything I shouldn’t bring?
We cannot allow any photography or video (including picture phones) – other than the official authorised photographers who have been checked by us and will be clearly identified. They will be taking pictures in the waiting areas – but will only be permitted into the audition rooms with YOUR permission. If you don’t want them in there for any reason please say so – no one will think any the worse of you.

We will also ask you to switch off and place your mobile phone out of site when you enter the building. This is for the convenience of everyone – and also for your security.

There is a nominal charge of £3 for each person.
(This helps to keep out potential mischief-makers who might be tempted to drift in from the street!)
Teenidol is a not-for-profit organisation and your £3 will help towards the material costs of running the auditions and rehearsals. (The great people who help run these events give their expert services free of charge! It is their way of ‘putting something back’ and we are very grateful for their generosity.)
